Dairy Bob Snyder with part of his collection of dairy artifacts

Introduction to Western Canadian dairy history and artifacts

Over the past twenty plus years, I have been fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to:

• Acquire a large collection of Western Canadian (4 western provinces) milk bottles & a broad array of other early (1905 to 1955) dairy artifacts
• Meet or otherwise communicate with a long list of very helpful people who shared their knowledge of their own or other dairy & creamery operations
• Spend many hours at libraries, museums, & archive locations, searching through their collections of documents & clippings relating to dairies & their collection of local history books based on family stories.

As the above events unfolded, I more & more came to feel the importance of sharing the knowledge gained & sharing detailed information about the collection. That feeling has led to writing articles; writing & compiling nine books; writing supplements for the books; the donation of the collections to date to the Royal British Columbia Museum (Victoria) & the Royal Alberta Museum, (Edmonton); and lastly to the development of the website. I hope the images & information presented herein are of interest & assistance to you.
